Hindi is an official language of India. It is second largest spoken language in the world. It plays an important role of contact language in the business world and in the corporate sector across India and abroad. Minor degree programme in Hindi is an undergraduate program, especially prepared to develop the various language skills and better understanding of life among the students. The curriculum contains some literary part to understand the socio-cultural aspects of Indian society and human values but the main focus is given to develop the language skills in the students for better employability.

These language skills include application of Hindi in computer and internet, translation, official letter drafting for the government offices and business sector, advertisement writing skill, news writing, editing, script and dialogue writing and other media related skills. The program also emphasizes on developing oratory abilities for effective communication and presentation in the classroom and beyond with more practical approach.

Objectives

Courses in this programme will help the students:

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of the Minor degree program in Hindi, the student will be able to –
  • CO1. Understand the historical development of Hindi language and literature. Through medieval poetry human values are reflected. Modern poetry and fiction is also helpful to understand the post-independence socio-economic and cultural development of our society. Impact of globalization and environmental imbalances on us is also main concern of today’s writing.
  • CO2.Employ key concepts in language & Language Skills and will be competent enough in employing theoretical knowledge in their practical life.
  • CO3.Demonstrate a broad knowledge of language and Language Skills in the different fields such as government offices Rajbhasha Vibhag, print and electronic media.
  • CO4. Be conversant with the complex language systems & applications and be able to use it in an appropriate manner with confidence.
Assessment Method

Syllabus based language skill test (writing, reading, listening and speaking), Class participation, Presentation, Viva, Assignment, project Work, Test and Semester End Exam.
